Review of Sony Ericsson Xperia X10

Photo: siwitralalatrilili.wordpress.com
The world's largest manufacturer of mobile phones, perhaps no one has taken a more twisted path to ubiquitous smartphone from Sony Ericsson. It started way back in the day pre-Ericsson joint venture by throwing weight behind Symbian, a smartphone platform that will eventually become the world's most popular - but it makes a fatal mistake in supporting the UIQ damned sense that never see even a fraction of supportive cousin S60 no. UIQ it's time (but expected) collapse last year left the company almost rudderless and ill-equipped to deal with competitors such as Nokia, HTC, and Apple, all of which had long since embraced other platforms - all with a fighting chance of market dominance.
Left without the platform for champions, Sony Ericsson will eventually continue to support through its involvement with Symbian Symbian Foundation and the phone as Satio and Vivaz ... and it will ramp up support for Windows Mobile with Xperia X1 and X2 ... and it will bring Android to the fold with X10, all within a few months of each other. All told, Sony Ericsson entered in 2010 actively supports three smartphone platforms that are not related, and comments by CEO Bert Norberg at MWC in February to make us believe that they will be happy to take all four (or more) if the opportunity presented itself. It's a strange strategy to ensure, especially for a company that is struggling and shrinking workforce of more than five other top manufacturers. How intends to effectively compete on three different fronts without spreading itself thin despair, either ... is still a big question mark.
That said, the Xperia X10 is probably the most promising crops Sony Ericsson smartphones confusing modern, attractive hardware combine with killer specs, Android, and custom leather pull. Do keep its own against modern competitors such as HTC and Desire Nexus? And more importantly, can it still Sony Ericsson from going over the brink? Read on to find out.
Note: Sony Ericsson to contact us immediately after reviewing published to let us know that this particular X10 running firmware pre-production, which may explain some of the problems we have with the performance of the keyboard and the occasional lethargy. Let's hope!
